RESIDENT MEDICAL INTERNS TRAINING

The IOFV is accredited for the training of Resident Internal Doctors (MIR) of Ophthalmology and regularly receives ophthalmologists in training for short periods. Training activity is of special importance in subspecialisations such as cornea, refractive surgery and cataract, which in public health systems is more limited.

Although this training is specially dedicated to the MIR of hospitals in Asturias, it is also open to other medical centres in Spain and abroad. In this sense, and during the last course, ophthalmologists from Andalusia, Catalonia, Portugal, Brazil and the Dominican Republic have received training at the Institute.

During these residences, ophthalmologists who are interested may take the course of University Expert in Additive Corneal Surgery.
